INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- The National Safety Council has announced this year’s recipient of the Marion Martin Award, a recognition honoring women's accomplishments in safety.

Karen LaRue is a health, safety and environmental leader at Procter & Gamble. With over 30 years in workplace safety, she has leveraged innovation, strategic leadership and a commitment to continuous improvement to foster safer workplaces and champion women in the safety profession.

As an adept and innovative leader at Procter & Gamble, Karen has led comprehensive safety initiatives across 14 work sites and contributed to a 50 percent reduction in employee injury rates. Karen played a key role in integrating automation and emerging technologies into operations safely and strengthened safety culture throughout the employee onboarding process. In addition to an extensive track record of advancing workplace safety, she has made a lasting impact by creating opportunities for women in the field through professional development and advancement.
