WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The National Safety Council announced National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Administrator Jonathan Morrison will deliver keynote remarks at the Road to Zero Coalition annual meeting May 19 at the National League of Cities in Washington, D.C.

In addition to the NHTSA Administrator’s keynote, the meeting will feature:

A live presentation from the Colorado Whole Blood Coalition on the lifesaving pre-hospital whole blood transfusion program implemented with funding from a Road to Zero 2025 Community Traffic Safety Grant

Vehicle Safety Innovation - What to Expect Next: A panel discussion on the latest developments in in-vehicle technology and how it can compensate for human error, prevent crashes and save lives

Doubling Down on What Works - What It Takes to Accelerate Progress: A discussion on the most promising innovations to address dangerous driving decisions, including alcohol impairment, speeding and distraction, and the steps needed to implement them

“For 10 years the Road to Zero Coalition has brought together voices from across the road safety landscape to discuss challenges and find solutions. This year’s annual meeting is no exception,” said Lorraine Martin, NSC CEO and chair of the Road to Zero Coalition. “These conversations and actions, focused on the federal safety framework, vehicle technologies and proven safety measures, will address the issues shaping road safety for the next decade and help us achieve our goal of ending preventable traffic deaths.”

Through the Road to Zero Coalition, NSC leads a nationwide effort with the U.S. Department of Transportation and roadway safety partners to eliminate traffic deaths by 2050. Central to that effort is the Safe System Approach – recognizing that safer roads, safer speeds, safer vehicles, safer people and better post-crash care must be intentionally designed and reinforced as a system to anticipate human error and prevent fatal and serious injuries.

The Road to Zero Coalition annual meeting will take place May 19. Register to attend. To learn more about Road to Zero or become a member for free, visit nsc.org/roadtozero.
