ARLINGTON, VA -- Each year, the ISEA Foundation awards the Bailey-Shipp Safety Scholarship to an outstanding student who demonstrates a strong commitment to advancing safety, health, and protection in the workplace.
Honoring a Legacy of Safety Leadership
The Bailey-Shipp Safety Scholarship was established to honor the legacy and vision of two champions of safety whose work helped shape the occupational safety and health industry. Awarded annually through the ISEA Foundation, the $8,000 scholarship supports students pursuing careers dedicated to innovation, prevention, and protecting workers across the country.
Meet the 2025 Recipient: Lauren Forney
Lauren Forney is pursuing a degree in Health Science, driven by a passion for improving public health, preventing workplace-related illnesses, and creating healthier environments for individuals and communities alike.
Throughout her academic career, Lauren has demonstrated exceptional leadership and service. She has served as a mentor and orientation leader, founded Lauren’s Community Service Academy, and volunteered with numerous organizations focused on health equity, food access, education, and community wellness. Her experiences span academic research, public health initiatives, environmental sustainability, and health-focused internships—including work with national research institutions and medical organizations.
Lauren plans to pursue a Master of Public Health (MPH) after graduation, with a long-term vision of integrating medical knowledge, public health strategies, and technology to design safer, healthier workplaces. Her focus on prevention, education, and policy reflects the very heart of the Bailey-Shipp Scholarship mission.
Why This Scholarship Matters
For Lauren, the Bailey-Shipp Safety Scholarship represents more than financial support, it is an investment in her continued growth as a leader, advocate, and future safety professional. The scholarship will help ease financial burdens, support experiential learning opportunities such as research and study abroad, and allow her to expand her community service and public health initiatives.
Her dedication to safety, health, and service exemplifies the purpose of the ISEA Foundation: to support the next generation of leaders who will protect and advance worker well-being.
