WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- The Steel Erectors Association of America (SEAA) is reinforcing its commitment to fall prevention and jobsite safety with two major initiatives. The association has unveiled the winning design of its annual Hard Hat Sticker Contest and is releasing its 2025 Fall Prevention Stand-Down poster, titled “Don’t Fall for False Security. Tie Off Right at Any Height!”

These resources are being released for annual Construction Fall Prevention events, which typically take place on jobsites across the country the first week of May.

Chosen from a competitive field of entries, the 2025 winning hard hat sticker design was submitted by Joe Brown, Construction Manager for Group Steel Erectors, Inc., based in Dickson, Tennessee. His submission, which followed the theme "Proud to Be an Ironworker," captures the essence of the trade.
"This design is more than an image- it’s a statement," said Brown. "It represents the grit, skill, and legacy of ironworkers. The phrase ‘Built on Steel, Est. 1972’ is a symbol of pride, tradition, and the hardworking men and women who build the future, one beam at a time,” he said.
As the contest winner, Brown will receive a $100 gift card and 250 hard hat stickers featuring his design. SEAA will also distribute the sticker as part of its Stand-Down campaign, making it available for member companies to purchase for fall prevention events.
This year’s Fall Prevention Stand Down poster addresses one of the most underestimated risks in construction—falls from 25 feet or less. Data shows that 21.1% of fall-related fatalities occur between 11 and 15 feet, yet workers often overlook the critical importance of proper anchorage and fall clearance calculations at these heights.
The poster provides actionable guidance on:
Choosing the right anchor point at various heights,
Understanding free fall distance based on harness and lanyard specs,
Recognizing equipment factors that affect fall arrest, including deceleration and harness stretch, and
Ensuring proper safety margins by factoring in stored materials and obstacles in the fall zone.
Thanks to sponsorship by Trivent Safety Consulting and SEAA’s Safety and Education Committee, the poster is being distributed to subscribers of SEAA’s official publication, Connector. It can also be downloaded from https://www.seaa.net/standdown.html.
"Fall prevention isn’t just about working high up—it’s about ensuring every worker, at any height, is protected," said Chris Legnon, Chairman of SEAA’s Marketing Committee and Vice President of Technology at Cooper Steel. "By providing real-world safety insights, we aim to equip crews with the knowledge to prevent avoidable accidents." |
