FALLS CHURCH, VA -- AIHA has hired Michele Twilley, DrPH, CIH, to serve as the certified industrial hygienist on staff. She will be AIHA’s primary staff technical lead for various advisory groups and technical committees and act as AIHA’s primary technical liaison with outside entities.
She will also oversee the operations of the AIHA Guideline Foundation, which includes the organization's standards advisory and Emergency Response Planning Guidelines™ programs.
Twilley, a certified industrial hygienist (CIH) and longtime AIHA member, brings a wealth of expertise and experience in industrial hygiene (IH) and OEHS. An industry veteran of 33 years, she has held a variety of leadership positions in the field, most recently serving as president of Aria Environmental Inc., an IH/OEHS consulting company that she co-founded 18 years ago.
Twilley previously served on the AIHA Board of Directors from 2017–2020. She is a doctor of public health (Dr.PH) with a concentration in environmental health and holds a Master of Health Science degree in environmental health science, industrial hygiene, and safety from the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University.
“We are very pleased to welcome Michele to the AIHA team,” said Lawrence D. Sloan, CEO of AIHA. “She is a highly qualified industrial hygienist and brings a passion for the profession that will help us continue to advance our strategic priorities. The fact that she is well known by most staff and our Board leadership is also an advantage.”
“I’m excited to start this new challenge at AIHA and look forward to working with the staff and volunteers to further the Association’s strategic plan goals,” said Twilley. “I’m fortunate to be joining such a respected organization that prides itself in empowering those who apply scientific knowledge to protect all workers and their communities from occupational hazards.” |
