WASHINGTON, DC -- The U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board is an independent, non-regulatory scientific agency in the Executive Branch; headed by a five-person Board consisting of Presidentially appointed, Senate confirmed members serving fixed five-year terms.

The CSB mission is to promote the prevention of major chemical accidents at fixed facilities. Its mission is accomplished through a variety of statutorily directed means including: incident investigation and reporting; performing research and conducting special studies on chemical safety; developing and communicating recommendations for improved chemical safety to the public and private sectors; and strengthening the effectiveness of governmental and non-governmental agencies in accident prevention and safety promotion.
Chemical Incident Investigator Position
The Chemical Incident Investigator position is located in the Office of Investigations. The incumbent serves as an expert in industrial chemical safety and nationwide incident investigation and analysis of major incidents involving the accidental release of hazardous materials and, developing and presenting reports with safety recommendations for adopting by the Board.
